2nd Vice Moderator Lawrence Reed Jr.   Reverend Lawrence K. Reed, Jr. was born August 24, 1960 in Clarksville,  Tennessee.  He is the oldest child of Lawrence and Bernice Reed, Sr.  The family moved to Nashville, Tennessee in February 1963. He was educated in the  Metropolitan Nashville Public School System, graduating from Maplewood High  School in 1979.  After a short stint at Austin Peay State University, he enlisted in the United States Air Force in January 1981. While stationed at Tinker Air Force Base, Reverend Reed was called into the gospel ministry on June 16, 1985 and  later licensed under the leadership of Pastor A.G. Woodberry at the Greater Mount Olive Baptist Church in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.      After being honorably discharged from the United States Air Force in April  1988, he enrolled at the American Baptist College in January 1989. Reverend Reed and his family became members of the Faith United Baptist Church in September 1989.  While at Faith United, Reverend Reed was ordained to the gospel ministry in November 1991.  Upon graduating from American Baptist College in December 1992 with his Bachelor of Arts degree in Biblical Theology and Pastoral Studies, he was also recognized among " Who's Who Among Students in American Universities & Colleges", Reverend Reed served diligently as an associate minister at Faith  United. In 1997, Reverend Reed and his family moved back to his home church of Jefferson Street Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor James "Tex" Thomas.      From June 2001 to August 2002, Reverend Reed served as Interim Pastor of  Ransom Temple C.P.A.  While at Ransom Temple, Reverend Reed went on to  further his education at Fisk University.  There he gained his Teacher Certification for grades 1-8. He later attended Tennessee State University to begin work on his Masters in Education.  After many years of patience and prayer, God sent  Reverend Reed to pastor Mount Nebo Missionary Baptist Church in Clarksville,  Tennessee, December, 2007.      Pastor Reed is married to the former Deborah A. Bruton.  To this union, they  have been blessed with three children: Lawrence (Dwanetta) III, Yulonda and  Gloria. Pastor Reed and his wife Deborah have been married for 29 years.  He is  also a proud member of the Alpha Iota Nu Preacher's Fraternity as well as Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Inc.      Above all, Pastor Reed is a faithful servant of God the Father and our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
